From Pilots to Platform: Scaling AI Across a Leading Healthcare Provider

Challange
A leading healthcare provider saw the potential for artificial intelligence (AI) to transform clinical workflows, staff efficiency, and patient experience, but efforts were fragmented. Early pilots, such as ambient voice technology (AVT), showed promise, yet there was no cohesive approach to scale innovation, embed AI into daily practice, or ensure long-term value. The organisation needed a structured path from experimentation to enterprise-level adoption.
What we did
Axsys supported the organisation to define its strategic approach to AI, building alignment around ambition, use cases, and delivery structures. We helped shape a cross-cutting transformation programme focused on scaling AVT into live outpatient settings, while designing the broader operating model, governance, and capability needed to embed AI across services. In parallel, we facilitated discovery into next generation use cases, including AI-enabled multi- disciplinary team (MDT) decision support and agentic automation to streamline referral and care coordination workflows. This work laid the foundation for a dedicated AI Lab to coordinate innovation, ensure safe deployment, and drive measurable outcomes.
